Hand carded rologs

I could just dive into these…I had a beautiful braid, BFL and silk, but when I spun it, it “babapo’d”.  Not that there’s anything wrong with intentionally barber poled yarn, but mine wasn’t intentional.  Since I’d just decided that a drum carder wasn’t in my budget, I ordered some carding cloth – which hasn’t arrived yet.  Out came the hand cards I’d won in a drawing at Fort Worden last year.  I know so little about hand cards, I don’t even know what kind they are. My guess is that they are for cotton…lots of teeny teeth.

In spite of the awkwardness and the sore shoulder afterwards, I was very happy to see the colors separated, the fiber fluffed.  Now off to teach myself long draw woolen spinning.
